Rohit Sharma: Indian Cricket Sixer King

India have won the One Day International Series (ODI series) convincingly against South Africa. In 5th match of the momentum series India's opening batsmen made a scintillating hundred which included 4 humongous sixes.

Watch out for: the list of top ten six hitters of Indian team in this article.

One of the six hit by Rohit Sharma was of world's fastest bowler (at least as per biased commentators) which landed on the road out of stadium.

Rohit Sharma, who is the only player to have scored double centuries in limited overs cricket, charged kagiso rabada of South Africa and smashed the ball delivered by him out of park.

Rohit hit 3 more sixes and by doing so he became India's second highest 6 hitters in international game. He is only behind MS Dhoni. Given the form he is in, and struggling MS Dhoni, one can say Rohit is on the verge of becoming sixer king of Indian cricket.

Most people believe that Rohit has a natural ability to lift the ball and hit it outside the ground. He is god gifted. But Rohit Sharma himself says that he had to work very hard on his batting and nothing has come easy.

Rohit is 2nd among the list of Indian players with maximum number of sixes in international cricket. He has hit total of 265 sixes. Out of these 29 sixes have been hit by him in test match cricket, 169 in ODI cricket, and 67 in T20 cricket.

Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar who played 664 matches for India only hit 264 sixes. And he couldn't hit any six in his T20 international career for India. This way Rohit is 1 behind MS Dhoni and 1 ahead of Sachin Tendulkar when it comes to hitting sixes.

List of  top 10 six hitters for India

  1. MS Dhoni 331 six in 490 match - One of these sixes was the most famous one where Dhoni hit one out of the ground at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai to win the world cup final match.
  2. Rohit Sharma 265 six in 275 match - Rohit sharma is always been on gunpoint of cricket fans, often calling him "nohit sharma" whenever he goes out of form.
  3. Sachin Tendulkar 264 six in 664 match - Sachin's onslaught on Glenn McGrath in champions trophy and on Shane Warne in shajah is something no one can forget.
  4. Yuvraj Singh 249 six in 399 match - Yuvraj's 6 sixes in a row in T20 world cup 2017, is the most memorable moment for all fans of Indian Cricket Team.
  5. Saurav Ganguly 246 six in 421 match - No one hit sixes as easy as Saurav Ganguly did. In fact, whenever a left arm bowler came on to ball, it was inevitable that left handed batsmen from Kolkata will loft him out of the ground.
  6. Virender Sehwag 237 six in 363 match - Sehwag's sixes were special in the sense that most of them came over point and not over long on or long off which is normal.
  7. Suresh Raina 171 six in 309 match - Raina is one of the most underrated batsmen in world cricket. He averages above 35 and strike the ball at the rate of over 95 in one day cricket. All this while playing at number 6 positions. Left hander has tremendous ability to hit one over the boundary, especially over mid wicket, whenever the team is under pressure.
  8. Virat Kohli 159 six in 328 match - Kohli is so good at playing ground shots that sixes can be a rarity. Yet, whenever need arise the passionate right hand batsmen has the ability to loft any bowler out of ground.
  9. Kapil Dev 128 six in 356 match - Kapil dev was a hard hitter of the ball. The Indian all rounder took attack to opposition while batting. Most famous of his sixes came in world cup against zimbabwe and in england where he hit 4 out of ground to save 'follow on' is a test match.
  10. Mohammad Azharuddin 96 six in 433 match - Wrist right handed batsmen from hyderabad was famous more for his flicks and wristy cover drives. Just like kohli he wasn't too keen on hitting sixes unnecessarily. Yet, whenever he felt the need to lift the run rate, he deposited few balls out of boundary for a six.
Given the form Rohit Sharma is in and the ease with which he hit lofted shots it won't be a surprise if he soon becomes the first man to hit 1000 sixes in international cricket. He has plenty of time in his hands.

Virat Kohli is already the best Indian Cricket Captain

How do you measure : Who is the best captain of a country's cricket team? Who really has been the best captain of Indian Cricket Team? Some of you will look at stats and would rank a captain based on win percentage, the number of matches won against the matches that India lost under a captain.

Some others may focus on how many big tournaments, like an ICC World Cup, or an ICC Champions Trophy, a team has won under a captain. And greater the number the higher a rank a captain may get based on that number among the best cricket captains.

But there is more to measure a captain. Best captains not only win tournaments and series but also address and try to correct the age old problems in the teams, without making excuses.

This is where Virat Kohli has already succeeded when compared to his predecessors. The perennial problem of Indian cricket teams is the attitude with which they play cricket. Most times it has been dull, boring and defensive. This has been backed by everyone who has …

One Record Virat Kohli Must Go For

Virat Kohli is the modern run machine. Every time indian cricket captain takes the field records starts to tumble. There are many virat kohli records which his fans are extremely proud of, but there is 1 cricketing record, a batting record, which Virat Kohli must go for, for if he is able to achieve it he will be extremely proud of himself.

We know Virat Kohli doesn't care about records. It happens for him.He is one of those record breakers who breaks and runs, and finds a next record standing hopelessly in front of him so that he can  break it. Breaking records seems to have become a second nature for him. You think about a cricketing record and you will find virat kohli chasing it, or very close to breaking it.

Virat has made so many records that breakdown of all his records will need a separate article. But here is 1 record which virat kohli must go for and something which we want to discuss about.

Don't blame Kohli for Loss When You Can't praise him for Wins

India has just lost couple of test matches in South Africa and battle ready swords are out pointed towards Virat Kohli, the captain of Indian Cricket team.

The quickness with which these swords have come out of scabbards shows that majority of indian cricket critics were waiting for an opportunity. An opportunity that Virat Kohli denied them ever since he took over captaincy in middle of the test series in Australia from his predecessor MS Dhoni.

So called experts in Indian cricket had no doubt whatsoever that Virat Kohli will fail as captain. They thought he is over aggressive, arrogant, and what not. And when he lost that first test as a captain at Adelaide while going for a chase, the critics got off to the perfect start.

While Kohli thought he had sawed right seeds in encouraging team to go for a win in a overseas test (a rarity in India cricket), critics called it a nonsense and arrogant move.

For the next 6 months no stone was left unturned to remind kohli that he committed a s…
